While working on the roof today I was hit with an idea for a self branding.
This was in part the destination I wanted to get to with the whole self indulgence series.

WISHLIST

I am not a christmas person. Not a grouch by any stretch of the means but it was firstly not part of my religious belief and second, it got a little aggravating to see people stress about sharing and giving. 

I don't give gifts or expect them really and I usually try to tell people not to worry .. I don't feel left out and that the fact they did think about me .. is all that matters .. 

Now having said all this .. I have something on my wishlist .. might be a christmas thing .. but I was looking at clothing and came upon this gem ...

God how I love the cosmos ..

something old .. that I decided to touch up again ..
about an hour and half to get the whole thing done ..  
I will have to play around with it some more .. not totally happy with the composition .. but its turning out like how i see it in my head ... would really help to have a photo studio ..
really exciting stuff .. learned a few things here ..
can't wait to get this right ..

NEW HEADER

Well it's been a little while coming !!

Also kinda sad .. I had started a book of illustrated type .. did a few illustrations already but now I cannot seem to find them .. really do not want to redo all of them again .. bah .. heres hoping i find them ..

NEW BANNER IDEA

I wanted to revamp the blog with a fresh look and new header design.
I thought it would be a good idea for a type treatment ..

This is basically what I have come up with.

PENCIL FIRST

It all starts with pencil work.
The lettering for SHIRK started here.
Lower mid. is the concept sketch for the poster to be made for her.
My header lettering and also uses for other stuff is on the right.

But as much as I try nothing ever seems to look as good as it does in pencil.
I find that hand lettering is amazing and the translation to digital rendering is something I have to put a lot more practice into.

More later but for now .. I AM KENYA BOUND !

SHIRK

I have started an editorial project on an awe inducing person.
Brittney Townson of SHIRK MAGAZINE and MODELE.
She had me at hello and ever since I have been a huge fan of hers.
There is a lot to say about her and I had some really good choice of words earlier. Well I guess just wait and read about it when the spreads are up.

Here are some quick warm ups .. god I love type.
I wanted Shirk to be written in something that had a little style / jazz and a lot of fun.
I also wanted to retain that fashion magazine elegance.

I think I got it.   

Next I shall try implementing a few effects like a shine or something on to it ..

BUT .. definitely check out her BLOG. You will not be disappointed!

STYLO

It has been a while since I created a font.
I always have some form of lettering that I will add but I wanted something more .. I don't know ..
anyways .. I love tall fonts, I find that they are not so many out there or maybe I haven't searched enough.
But I illustrated this set. Working on the illustrator / cleaner version of it..
Inspiration for this was me trying to do a fashion magazine editorial thing and i wanted an original font to use.
I present STYLO.

I am thinking this somewhere between Heidi Klum and and a young Cate Blanchett
